Bobby moved on to college at Chipola Junior College, which was located in his hometown of Marianna.  While attending the two-year college, Bobby compiled at 14-7 record and led them to the Panhandle Conference Championship and finished in the top four in the Florida Junior Collage State tournament in 1993.  The next year Bobby was selected to the All Conference team and played in the Florida Junior College All Star game.  In 1994, Bobby was awarded Chipola Junior College Baseball Leadership trophy for his sportsmanship and accomplishments during his two years at the college.

Bobby then moved to Montgomery and enrolled in Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) and continued his baseball career.  At AUM Bobby compiled a pitching record of 16-7 and finished his career with one of the best career Earned Run Average (ERA), placing him in the top three in AUM history.  Bobby help lead the AUM baseball team to back-to-back regional appearances finishing in the final four in 1995 and 1996.

Bobby, having finished his college career compiling a 30-14 record, decided it was time to move on to something he had always wanted to do - coaching.  He started his coaching career, when he coached the 17-18 year old Southeastern All Star team in 1996 and as a pitching coach at AUM under Coach Q.V. Lowe in 1997 and 1998 while completing his degree at AUM.  He then moved on to Faulkner University and became the fall pitching coach helping to preparing the team for the 1999 season. In 1999, Bobby became the pitching coach for Trinity Presbyterian School.  Then in the summer of 1999, Bobby became an assistant baseball coach at Catholic High School and a Physical Education teacher at St. Bede’s Elementary school.  Finally, in the summer of 2000, he was given the helm of the Montgomery Catholic High School Knight’s baseball team.

Bobby’s love for baseball has inspired him to go beyond the normal.  During  two previous summers he has volunteered his time as a head coach for the Central Alabama American Legion team, taking the teams to the final four tournament in both 1999 and 2000.

In 2001 Bobby tried out for the Montgomery Wings, All American Association, baseball team and was picked for the inaugural team.  However, half way into the season his professional baseball career was cut short when an old arm injury flared up.
